The 18 Sections

The Architecture

Hero Shot (1)

To Lower ground (2) - Off-White area
My design is extrapolated from my 'tree-house' stair design. The "Urban Treehouse" I designed was placed in a city-scape, as seen in my Hero Shot (1). This was due to the commercial nature of the two businesses, and hence the building would have to be placed in a high density area. The city backdrop also alludes to the scale of the building, in comparison to the neighbouring architecture.

Spiral staircases allow flow from the basement level to the showroom area. The basement is comprised of a large "communal" space in the centre, aimed to facilitate collaboration between the Off-White designers. Further, individual cavity's lie on the perimeter, allowing personal work.

Showroom area (3)
The "Showroom area" is comprised of four glass pillars, which are connected by a series of seemingly floating spiral staircases. This design allows visitors to browse the company's products (Suspended in the glass pillars) as they move through the staircases. Multiple paths in the network of stairs gives option to the viewers on which direction to go next.
Upper level (4) - BernabeiFreeman area

The upper level houses the BernabeiFreeman workshop. Custom texture was used on the floor here to reflect the patterns found in the company's own work. Views of the surrounding city are afforded by floor-to-ceiling windows.

The 36 Textures

Textures 1-36
First three sets of textures are to basic - On the advise of Shaowen, I begun to experiment with different line-weights and shading to create a tactile-like surface.

Experiment One: Datum - Part 1: The Stair Concept Model Final Submission

Inspiration: The Starting Point

My model is loosely based of a series of tree trunks, which grouped closely together allow a series of platforms resembling steps. The pattern found on the BernabeiFreeman lamp attached below formed the blueprint for the structure, allowing small platforms to bridge the gap between the large trunks - like a treehouse, ultimately allowing the customers alternate routes, and freedom over the path they take.
